Chapter 3: For Men

Never try to fix her problems—never, ever. She needs you to listen, not act. Ask her questions, and care about the answer. Give her suggestions only if she asks for your help. Never interrupt your wife. Never, ever say, “Yes honey, but what about…?” to refute her. Do not deflect the conversation on to some safe or tangential topic to avoid getting to the heart of the matter. Do not answer her questions with questions to avoid her. If you must interject, ask productive questions such as “What do you need from me?” “How can I help with that?” “How can we solve this together?” Knowing you genuinely care, she will open up to you as never before.
