Mounce is the author of a semi-autobiographical, self-published memoir, Dead Stuck (Pacific Sky Publishing), described as “one man’s stories of adventure, parenting and marriage told without heaping platitudes of political correctness.” Written around a Christmas letter that he wrote to his daughters in 2004 about the opportunities and challenges of life, Dead Stuck looks at marriage, relationships as well as true adventure stories including one where Dr. Mounce was “dead stuck” (immobile and pinned in a cave under water) while cave diving.

Mounce is married with twin daughters. He is an avid scuba diver favoring technical wreck and cave diving.
